Baking The Bake Off! Week 3: Antipasto Stuffed Bread

Last Wednesday was the return of Bread Week on The Great British Bake Off, two words which put the fear of God into any baker! This is the one week in which Paul Hollywood's approval is equal or beyond the feeling of winning the lottery! First up I have to share with you my favourite innuendo of the episode:

For the Signature Bake, the contestants presented the judges with rye bread rolls. My personal favourite was definitely Kate's Orange and Cardamom Rye Bread Knots. I love the sound of the sweet and spicy flavours. Next up was the Technical Challenge in which the bakers were confronted with Paul Hollywood's own recipe for ciabatta. One of my favourite moments during the bake was Mel whispering 'Chetna is flouring! Chetna is flouring!', when the contestants were playing chicken waiting to see who would tip out their dough first! Cracks me up every time! Lastly was the Show Stopper Challenge, where the bakers were asked  to create their own stuffed bread. I was heart broken for Kate when her Prosciutto, Olive, & Coriander stuffed bread came out raw because it looked incredible. Equally I was gutted when Jordan's Strawberry Raspberry Cheesecake Brioche didn't match expectations because it sounded delish! Luis' Roscon de Reyes bread, however, was spectacular! He very rightly deserved Week 3's Star Baker!

For my Baking The Bake Off creation this week, I baked an Antipasto Stuffed Bread. I used Richard's Pinwheel dough recipe and method, stuffing it with homemade pesto, roasted red peppers, grilled artichokes, & sun-dried tomatoes. It's my favourite bake so far. I'm super proud that my dough cooked perfectly all the way through, and I didn't have any gaps between my dough & filling!

I think I did a pretty good job. My family seemed to enjoy the bread so I'm happy! I'm super exited for tonight's new episode! Roll on the desserts!

  1. I actually enjoyed making bread, despite what I previously thought! Your pinwheel looks really good, and this sounds delicious- I know a lot of friends and family who like pesto, so this would go down well with them!
