What To Wear For A Valentines Date

Valentine's Day is just around the corner. If you're going on a date, it's time to start thinking what to wear. Stuck when it comes to choosing an outfit? I've put together some looks to help. Each one is for a different type of date, time, or location. Hopefully this post will give you some inspiration.

This killer dress by Missguided is the perfect amount of sexy for a restaurant date. It shows just the right amount of skin but leaves the rest to the imagination. I love the adorable 'Sealed With A Loving Kiss' message on this necklace because it's a subtle nod to Valentine's Day without rendering you looking like a love child of Cupid and Aphrodite. If you read my previous post 'Let's Get Lippy' you would have noticed I have developed a slight obsession with Lulu Guinness clutch bags. I've included this black box clutch because I think the lipstick clasp is a great quirky detail. The coat and shoes are classic pieces you can wear over and over again. The lingerie set I have matched with this outfit oozes sex appeal.

If you're going to the cinema, make sure you factor in the cold. I can't be the only person who is always freezing every time they go to watch a film. I have layered a jumper with a soft boucle knit blazer for warmth. I love the check print leggings by Topshop because they are fun as well as being comfortable to sit still in for an hour and a half plus during a movie. The statement necklace by Love From Misbehave ensures the casual vibe of the outfit has a smarter edge. I chose these boots by New Look because they are bang on trend right now and they perfectly complement the H&M handbag. I love how the pretty lacy underwear set matches the overall colour scheme of the outfit.

This outfit is for a laid back indoor date. For daytime you don't want to be overly dressed up because walking around in six inch stilettos and a sequinned dress during the day will make you look crazy. Sherling is a huge trend right now, I love this navy jacket by Miss Selfridge. The floral smock dress I have chosen is perfect for if you are heavier chested or don't have much waist definition. The empire line starts slightly lower which prevents the tent look that other smock dresses can create. I teamed this outfit with loafers because you don't want your feet to hurt by the end of the day if you are in heels. I've kept the Accessorize bag and Olivia Burton watch to a brown colour palette because they complement the red, white and blue of the jacket and dress. I added the heart earrings because they are, again, a subtle acknowledgement of the occasion without shouting 'OMG! IT'S VALENTINE'S DAY!' Plus they are a bargain. I love the balconette cut of the black lace bra because it's super flattering.

If you're going on an outdoor date in the UK, an umbrella is your first essential. Your second essential is a warm coat. I love the pop of colour that this Zara tangerine wool car coat adds to the outfit. For extra warmth I had to include some cosy gloves, with a scarf, and sherling lined boots. I've mixed colours, patterns and fabrics in this look to create texture. I love the combination of the Aztec print Annie Greenabelle jumper and Nasty Gal half denim leggings. The pink lingerie set by Pour Moi? is the perfect colour for Valentine's Day. The extra band length under the cups of the bra is great for smoothing lumps and bumps too.
